From Guatemala: By bus it will take you about three hours. Take a bus to Retalhuleu or Tecún Umán and get off in Cocales. There take a bus to San Lucas Tolimán or Panajachel and ask the bus driver to drop you off at the entrance to Los Tarrales (Km 164.2 Ruta Nacional 11). By car it will take about two hours.
From Antigua take a bus to Escuintla, and from there any bus to Tecun Umán or Retalhuleu and get off in Cocales. There you take a bus to Panajachel, Quiché or San Lucas Tolimán. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at the entrance to Los Tarrales (Km 164.2 Ruta Nacional 11).
From Panajachel at lake Atitlán There are several bus lines (Xoyita, Mendoza, Mashena, Morales, Fuente del Sur, Quiroa) which travel directly from Panajachel to the entrance of Los Tarrales. It takes 1 hour 15 min. Or you might take a boat to San Lucas Tolimán. On Tuesday, Friday and Sunday there are frequent boats due to the market day but much less on the other days. From San Lucas Tolimán take a bus (15 min.) to Patulul / Escuintla. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at the entrance to Los Tarrales (Km 164.2 Ruta Nacional 11).
From Santiago Atilán The following bus lines pass directly at Los Tarrales: Esmeralda, Transportes Atitlan, La Atiteca. It takes 45 min. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at the entrance to Los Tarrales (Km 164.2 Ruta Nacional 11). Or you might take a boat to San Lucas Tolimán. On Tuesday, Friday and Suday there are frequent boats due to the market day but much less on the other days. From San Lucas Tolimán take a bus (15 min.) to Patulul / Escuintla and get off at the entrance to Los Tarrales.
From Monterrico you take the boat to La Avellana, from there a bus to Taxisco and from there to Escuintla. In Escuintla take any bus to Tecun Umán or Retalhuleu and get off in Cocales. There you take a bus to Panajachel, Quiché or San Lucas Tolimán. Ask the bus driver to drop you off at the entrance to Los Tarrales (Km 164.2 Ruta Nacional 11).
